Although she already had a website created for a master thesis on color, Nanna van Heest commissioned me to create a new portfolio website that represented better her recent work. Working with Nanna's color studies was both a blessing and a burden: on the one hand, I got to lay out beautiful and outspoken artworks that led me to question my own use of color altogether, but on the other hand, so colorful that the interface had to be quiet to let it be. Together with Nanna, we developed a subtle environment where buttons reveal information only when necessary. Each project page also gets a dedicated color, that matches the work itself. The website treats color as a playmate: on scroll, you will always see patchworks of different colors, just like in Nanna's work. On top of the layout was implemented typography (Manifont Grotesk from Bye Bye Binary), which features imperfect and raw letters, reminding us of Nanna's color scapes.
