About

I am an avid reader. Besides listening to music and eating pastries, that's my drill.
I am resourceful. I am generous in ideas for others. I am a hands-on designer who knows various tools and tricks.
I am a type nerd. Definitely not a typography expert, but slightly obsessed!
Oui, je suis Français (nobody's perfect).
I have a sweet tooth. Pastries, cookies, candies... That's my personal delight!
I am very talkative. If I don't stop speaking, please do yourself a favor: slap me!

For those who like to read

Some people told me that ‘‘generous designer’’ is a very intriguing definition to describe oneself. Yet, I believe it represents very well how and why I do what I do.  Because I truly believe that design can transform society from the ground-up, by focusing on beings instead of profit. Therefore, my goal is to use my skills to help people and communities around me to grow and flourish. I believe that commons and solidarity will empower humans to shift towards a more sustainable and desirable future.

I envision each project as a collaboration, which means an opportunity to learn and grow together. As a designer, I like to question ‘‘buisness as usual’’. In practice, it implies to rethink how things are done in a traditional design journey. What about low-tech design? What about the use of colors in print? Is it possible to reuse materials to create new products with a unique touch? Can design be regenerative, or even ephemeral? Can we use open-source tools? As the design meme goes: Less is more (is it?).

FAQ

About the studio

In French, we have a piece of wisdom that is « Tables bridge friendships ». I chose this name to represent the social aspect of my practice. It also acts as a manifesto, as I want my work to bring people together. A table is a place of gathering, mediation and creation.

About our collaboration

  1. We first meet to discuss your project in full: what are your needs and expectations, who is your audience, what is your budget, what are your deadlines and other relevant details.
  2. If we decide to collaborate together, I will send you an offer which includes a quote and detailed project deliverables and agreements.
  3. If you are happy with these, I will start working on the project. I will keep you updated with my progress along the way, until the project is done. We will meet as many times as necessary to adjust the scope of the project.
  4. When all of this is done, our baby is born!

As soon as possible! Unless we agree otherwise during our first meeting, I usually start with our project right after we sign an agreement.

I usually offer unlimited corrections. They are included in the price. This avoids difficult conversations at a later stage of our collaboration, so we can both sail with a peaceful mind.

It will probably sound weird to you, but I usually bring a single proposal to the table, after our first preliminary meeting. I prefer giving you one solid proposal than multiple half-baked ideas. If we realize that this proposal will not work, I’ll offer you a different one free of charge.

Depending on your project scope and budget, I can also take care of printing parts. My favorite printing method is risography, because it is the most eco-friendly and cheap option. Although it comes with some limitations, it is also very popular for its bright colors. I know this technique very well and know print shops where it is available. We can discuss this while making your budget. I have a good experience in print-making and will design your publications accordingly. I can also put you in contact with a printer.

No. I will focus on the visual aspect of your project only. Nevertheless, I am very good in syntax and grammar, which I use to make decisions when Typography and long texts are involved. I can give you guidance with this.

For websites, I will not write your Privacy policies, Return policies and the like. You will have to create them yourself.

About money

The fee is always based upon your budget and needs. I usually do not charge per hour, but per project instead. This way, we both know what we are getting into from the start. As an indication, a visual identity or a web design project are usually in the vicinity of 2500€- excluding taxes. Projects with bigger scope an requirements will be charged accordingly.

Do you have a low-budget? I accept other arrangements, like barter. If you are a non-profit, activist group or starting freelancer, please reach out still! We will make an arrangement according to your budget.

Yes! If you have something to trade other than money, let’s have a look together!

Yes! I practice a 10% discount for students and graduates! :)

Yes! I have been there before, this is something we can discuss during our first meeting.

Yes, upon the start of our collaboration, I will ask you to bring 25% of the amount we agreed on for the project. This is a fair way to guarantee you that I will deliver good work (or I shall perish), and a way for me to keep the studio’s shenanigans running.

About webdesign

Yes. If you want to use the services of a third party for the web development and ask me to focus on the design and interactions instead, it is completely fine by me too.

For web-design, I use wordpress.org in combination with Oxygen builder. It is a free, flexible, sustainable and open-source tool that is also the industry standard. I will not work with other CMS that rely on hosting based in the U.S.A. or with ties with military activities.

Yes! I will always make sure that your onboarding process will run smoothly, and will provide general support during the first month after delivery, free of charge. So you are not alone!

For web-design, I will provide general support during the first month after delivery, free of charge. This includes fixing mistakes that are my responsibility (bugs, faulty design etc.). For later changes and new implementations to your website, we will discuss a new financial agreement.

No, simply because I don’t know how to do this well.

As many as you need! There is no limit.

Yes! I have experience with Woo Commerce (my preference in combination with wordpress) and Shopify.

Yes, but not too many! You will have to purchase your hosting and domain name yourself. I can recommend you places to do so. For e-commerce websites, you will also have transactions and banking fees connected to your web shop activities. These vary depending on the payment services you use.

About technology

For desktop publishing, I use Affinity. For web design, I use wordpress in combination with Oxygen builder. In general, I try to work with free (or freemium), libre, open source softwares (FLOSS) whenever possible. Most of my digital activity happens on hardware, I store no data on cloud services, besides my website (hosted by O2switch, an independent French company).

No, and I will never use it. I prefer the beauty of handmade creations and human collaboration. In general, I try to minimise my use or dependence on technology, specifically due to its negative ecological impact.

This is not my expertise. I don’t do motion design or video editing.Nevertheless, I can produce assets and stills for your video content.

About sustainability

Sustainability is at the core of every decision I make.

  • In the use of software and technology: boycott of AI, refurbished and pre-owned gear, open-source software, etc.
  • In my output: I pay close attention to the ecological footprint and afterlife of what I do (materials lifecycle, energy consumption for websites, amount of ink used in print, etc.)
  • In the use of local supplies (NL or EU)
  • In my network: I work only with people based in the Netherlands or in Europe. Engaging with my local community is important for me.
  • In the way I work: strict working hours, time allocated to leisure and experiments, cultural visits, etc.
