The Trash Bunker is a second-hand material hub in the Willem de Kooning Academy. Art and design students can visit the space to give and take (scrap) materials for free. During my involvement there, I created a flexible visual system that could be reproductible by other assistants. This system works across digital interfaces and printed media alike. This identity was designed to be durable. It is a combination of bulky typography and a bold ‘zigzag’ which represents this living space, always transforming. The system relies on standard print colors, which are available on the riso-printers of the academy, an eco-friendly printing technique. Employees can come up with their own zigzags to create visuals according to their needs. This visual element acts as an eye catcher on communication posters, but also as a way-finding element in the space itself.
